Prosperity of a nation lies in the hands of its younger generation. The moral values and ethical standards play a vital role in shaping the future of an individual or a country. The education system of ancient India (Gurukul system) imparted holistic education to students with focus on moral, physical, spiritual and intellectual aspects of life. Unfortunately, the Gurukul system where a Sishya (student) live with the Guru (Teacher) until he finishes his education, has now totally vanished. With this came significant changes in the modern student life. One of them is the usage of inappropriate language and it has now become a common sight. Observing this alarming situation, Amma Jyothirmaye understood the urgent need to invest time in reintroducing the moral values to younger generation while they are still in school. For this, the older generation with strong oratory skills and good knowledge on ancient Indian history was brought into play. They are encouraged to tell the stories and teach moral values to school children in their community.
“Instill good character traits while they are still young and make them one more Shivaji or Netaji!”
